Hi, and thanks for stopping by our website!  We're humbled by the chance to help you find your new best friend &/or farm guardian.  We are The Snyder's:  Brad, Kelly, Mitch & Matt.  We are a small and close family who love being silly together!  We love all things outdoors here at The Oaks.   Our family has found the undeniable love, protection and loyalty of a Great Pyrenees a "Pyrfect" fit with our family and our farm. We feel really blessed & honored that God has given us the opportunity to live on and lovingly maintain this beautiful piece of land.  This land has been in my husbands family for years, but we took full control of it about 25 years ago.  We are an Oak Tree Farm sitting on 160 acres off of Brookville Lake in SE Indiana, right in the heart of the Midwest.

We live WAY out in the 'sticks' as our friends & family like to say.  We're a 1/2 hour to 45 minutes to most of civilization.  It's very quiet and peaceful here.  Our visitors are always amazed at the brightness of the stars at night here.  But, with living in such a remote area, we have LOTS of critters around here from coyotes, bobcats, stray dogs, coons, opossums, muskrats, fox, deer, turkey, eagles, hawks, buzzards, etc! It's a regular wildlife zoo out here! When we initially added chickens & ducks to our farm, we knew we needed guardians with them to protect them and to keep all those critters away!

Great Pyrenees truly are a breed unlike any other. They are rightly nicknamed "Gentle Giants". They are the perfect mix of loving family pet, but also a serious guardian dog of their "charges" (or some say flocks, livestock, etc.  Whatever they deem their family).  Many people unfamiliar with the breed are astonished how well these sweet looking dogs guard off predators and defend their 'charges'.  They're really the perfect mix of loving, gentle and kind v. fierce, protective and strong.  I've heard it said before when referring to Great Pyrenees..."They're like potato chips.  You can't have just one!"

Great Pyrenees ARE fabulous pets; but if you’ve never owned one before please check out our links under 'Great Pyr Info' on the toolbar above. If you're new to the breed, we encourage you to research the breed to see if they are a good fit for you and your family.  We have owned a Pyr in a neighborhood setting prior to moving out here, so we've seen first hand how they can make great pets in both urban or rural settings.  However, there are factors in each setting you must be aware of such as barking, roaming, etc.

Thanks again for stopping by our page!
